TREE I S 3HI BY THE LEX1 ADVERTISER XI 1 i1TV RULES AND REGULATIONS 1 Any reputable man woman or child residing in this vicinity or sur rounding territory is eligible to enter this election and compete for a prize i Nominations may be made at any time during the election 2 No employee in this NEWSPAPER office is eligible to enter this distribution This newspaper reserves the right to reject any nomination 3 The winners of the prizes will be decided by their accredited votes aid votes being represented by ballots on subscriptions 4 Candidates are not confined to their particular section or commun ity in which to secure votes and subscriptions but may take orders anj where in this section or for that matter anywhere in the State or United States 5 Cash must accompany all orders where votes are desired There will be no exceptions to this rule Candidates will be allowed to collect subscriptions and renewals as well as entirely new subscriptions and a otes will be issued on both alike 6 Votes are free It costs the subscribers nothing extra to vote for their favorite Subscribers should ask for votes when paying their sub scriptions

There is a photographing machine on a lower floor of Grand Central Station which is a marvel even in this day of mechanical miracles In appearance it resembles the body of a honsom cab You step inside sit insert a qarter in a slot and press a button In just one minute there is delivered to you automatically your photograph already framed For an other nickel a mailing envelope is also furnished The first days of spring have broght a new look to New York Side streets which had been piled high with snow are clean from warm showers Store windows have chang ed from their winter dressing to bright mildweather colors like the clothing of passing pedestrians Cen tral Park has taken on a verdant mantle set with diamondlike lakes And out in the suburbs residents have removed their overcoats too soon done too much raking on their vards have become overheated caught colds and now are taking the modern version of sulphur and mo lasses I recently had occasion to ride the Pere Marquette railrdftd from Grand Rapids Michigan to Chicago and I was much impressed by the dining car service This railroad is owned by the Chesapeake
