Betts Arrested After Hunt in Gambling Case Capture Made Near Rich1 mond Va on Warrant Is sued During Inquiry Into i Nassau County Scandal Trail Leads to Officials Indictment of Well Known Figure in Sporting World Is Reported at Minela Colonel Lou Betts indicted by the Ks3u County grand jury last month as n gambler was arrested yesterday at Lester Manor near Richmond Va and is being held for extradition pro ceedings These proceedings probably will be commenced Wednesday and it is expected they will be vigorously contested by Betts His arrest forms another link in the chain that is being gradually forged by Supreme Court Justice Scudder and District Attorney Charles R Weeks about thos einvolved in gambling oper ations in Nassau County It came af ter a long chase by State Troopers Byck and Krause who were set on the trail of Betts immediately after the Indictment was handed down The trail led the two troopers from Mine ola to Highland N J thence to Havre de Grace Md and finally to Rich mond Bett was the owner of Kings Cot tage just outside Hewletts L I in which it is alleged gambling was rife The news of
