6__ MAINE ITEMS Killed Under Train The crown sheet of engine 141 hauling a freight train northbound in charge of Conductor P N Clark Engineer L F Bishop blew out when within about five miles ofVanBuren at 10 oclock Monday evening Feb 25th slightly burning En gineer Bishop and Fireman J H Corey Brakeman Harry H Tidd who was rid ing in the engine jumped off into a snow bank rolled under the train and was kill ed His home was in Island Falls where his parents reside He was unmarried They Are After the Slackers The inspectors connected with the Au tomobile Registration Bureau depart ment of State are already rounding up numerous parties who have neglected doubtless on account of the deep snow and severe weatherto register their au tos for 1918 and are using their 1917 plates and numbers The bureau officials hope it will not be necessary but will take measures to induce all such offenders to step up and settle The government will have a job to do in Lubec as a result of the big ice embargo that existed there last week When the brokenup floes were passing out through the Narrows in the
