ITEMS OF ALL SORTS Big Wool Cargo Safe A cargo of South African wool valued at 3500000 arrived at Boston last week and underwriters were manifestly elated when the news reached their offices The consignments were purchased for Boston importers by a score of buyers during the past six months some of the bales of scoured wool being worth at least 350 Italian Branch Banks in U S Prompted by the sending by Italy of a commercial and political commission to the United States several of Italys largest banks have decided to open branch houses in New York instead of relying upon American banks to represent them as in the past The purpose of these banks is to compete for the handling of the large war business resulting from the purchases now being made by Italy in the United States for the handling of the funds sent home by Italians and for the general tourist and trading business ex pected to come after the war May Have Deciding Power Charleston hew6 and Courier DemJ It is hard to estimate now the import ance of the weapon which has been placed in the Presidents hand in the shape of this embargo
