D June In Missouri Correspondence of The Journal Springfield Mo June 13 1916 The month of June is to us full of joy and beauty To begin we have been favored with an abundance of delicious straw berries gathered fresh from our own patch in the garden For more than four weeks morning noon and night we ate them without stint or weariness and handed over the patch at surplus times to neighbors and friends We have also been bountifully supplied with radishes lettuce beet greens and yesterday we picked our first mess of string beans This morning we cut our first crop of en dive and dug our first mess of new pota toes one hill being sufficient for the days needs Not only do we partake of the eatables but our eyes are being feasted with the sight of the beautiful Flowers of almost all early varieties are to be seen everywhere in profuse abun dance particularly is this true of the roses which just now are exceedingly pro fuse A week ago we were charmed and delighed with the sights which met our eyes as we drove through the Btreets of the city Last night in our
