International Road Congress President Roosevelt Names Commissioners to Represent the U S Government Washington D C June 22 1resi dent Roosevelt lias directed that this Nation be strongly and officially repre seuted at the International Roads Coi gress to be held at Paris the week be ginning October 11 and credentials have been issued naming Logan Waller lage Director of the Office of Public Roads of the U S Department of Agri culture Chairmau of the Commission The other members named are Colonel Charles S liromwell of the United States Corps of Engineers now serving as Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds of the District of Columbia and Clifford Richardson of New York an eminent chemist and one of the worlds acknowledged authorities on bituminous road building materials This coming Congress which will be attended by distinguished delegates from every country in the world is re garded by highway engineers and ex perts as probably the most iniportant ever summoned for the discussion of an economic question Its need is the direct outgrowth of the advent of the automobile for while thousands are ignorant of the fact the solt tires ol the modern motor car are the greatest menace the hard

North Waldo Pomona Grange North Waldo Pomona Grange was en tertained by Star of Progress Grange in Jackson Wednesday Sept 10th Although the sky was dark and the clouds threatening there was a goodly number present from the nearby granges and a pleasant and instructive meeting resulted Worthy Master O B Dow pre sided and the meeting was duly opened while Mr and Mrs F I Cronkhite satis factorily supplied the stations of Steward and Chaplain respectively Morning Light Sunrise Comet and Harvest Home Granges were represented besides the host grange During the business session a commu nication was read from the Lecturer of Waldo Pomona extending an invitation to tile members to meet with that Pomona at Frederick Ritchie Grange hall in Waldo Tuesday Sept 23rd The invitation was unanimously accepted At this time Mr and Mrs Sidney Tibbetts were introduced and received the instructions of the de gree of Pomona B WFarniiam of Comet Grange presided at the piano during the ceremony after which a delicious dinner was served by ladies of Star of Progress Grange and an enjoyable social hour fol lowed Grange was reassembled in the fifth de gree and the choir rendered a pleasing selection
