The Committee on Claims, to whom was referred the memorial of Warren Mitchell, of the State of Kentucky, praying to be refunded the proceeds of seven hundred and thirty bales of cotton seized by officers of the United States at Savannah, Ga., and covered into the Treasury, having considered the same, report as follows

dome unfounde i reports have spread misinforination ab nt the rites to he charged by hoteis and boarding houses at Atlanta during the Cotton States and International Exposition Mr Alex W Smith Chief of the Public Comfort Depart meat makes this statement tor pub lication Atlanta Ga ug 25 1895 Mr Walter G Cooper Chief De partmcutlf Publicity and Prom otion Atlanta Ga DEAR inReferring to the ed itorial comment of the Savannah Morning News to the effect that boarding house keepers have an nounced an increase in their rates I beg to state that this department has received no intimation of any such intention and not one single person who has registered accom wodation with the department has given any notice of an increase I take pleasure in announcing through you to the public at large that sufficient accomodations have been secured through the efforts of the Public Comfort Department to adequately and comfortable care for the average attendance upon the Exposition The rates for such accommodation at the regular hotels will be from one dollar to three dollars per day European plan and from two to five dollars per day American plan In the lodging and boarding houses
