THE EDITOR OF THE SUN harles A Dana as He Is Known to One of the Craft 7herein He Differs From the Other Men in His Line of Work The run He Has In Life and Out of His NewspaperHis PS Avocations It is difficult to write about Charles A Dana for newspaper men They know a great deal about him think they know a great deal more and all have theories con cerning him which they dont want dis turbed If the newspaper buainoas wore re ligions which it isnt Mr Dana would be the pope and it doesnt do to discuss popes or to theorize about them with their fol lowers Therefore the wisest course is to tell as accurately as possible a few things which perhaps have not been told before Mr Dana will always be known as Charles A Dana That is all right Bus there is no excuse for thes newspaper men who persist in pronouncing the surname as a Frenohuman would instead of giving a broad A sound to the first A Mr Dana can be found at work in his eoffie at any reasonable hour of the day His system of greeting one
