Map of United States showing major relief by hachures, drainage, cities and towns, railroad stations, the railroad network, with emphasis on Tennessee. Names of railroads along the lines are indicated. This line was first chartered under Nashville and Chattanooga Railroad on December 11, 1845. Its present name dates from 1873.
Scale of map of the eastern half of the United States is ca. 1:3,300,000. The map indicates "Railroads finished and under way" and "railroads proposed." Chartered January 15, 1849.

Map of the United States showing relief by hachures, drainage, cities and towns, state boundaries, and the railroad network with emphasis on the main line. The line was created by an act of the state of Illinois, February 27, 1847, and amended July 27, 1851. The line reached the Mississippi River on February 22, 1854, where the first bridge to cross the river was opened on September 1, 1854, linking Rock Island, Ill., with Davenport, Iowa.

Company organizational diagrammatic map drawn in the form of a branching tree that identifies in its branches all of the functional offices of the railroad by name. Shows railroad trackage branches as straight lines radiating from the central office of the "Gen'l Sup't". The branches extend from New York (State) westward thru northern New Jersey and northern Pennsylvania to Lake Erie. "Published by permission." Relief shown by hachures and spot heights. Appears in the U.S. War Dept.'s Report of the Secretary of War on the several Pacific railroad explorations, 1855. "This is a hurried compilation of all the authentic surveys and is designed to exhibit the relations of the different routes to each other. An elaborate map on scale of 1:3,000,000 is being compiled and is in an advanced state." In manuscript ink on verso: "Maps showing boundaries of proposed territory of Arizona belonging to the [illegible], Department of the Interior." Annotations in ink at lower center.
