Map is colored to show "free, or non-slaveholding states" (pink), "border slave states" (yellow), and "seceded or confederate states" (green). Covers area between Massachusetts and Virginia and west to the Mississippi River. Shows "finished" and "proposed" railroads. A mileage chart entitled "Rail Road Routes from Seaboard to the Interior" appears at lower right of map. Harrisburg to Pittsburgh Railroad is part of the Pennsylvania Railroad. See entry 517.

New York and Erie Railroad diagram representing a plan of organization : exhibiting the division of academic duties and showing the number and class of employés engaged in each department : from the returns of September 1855

Company organizational diagrammatic map drawn in the form of a branching tree that identifies in its branches all of the functional offices of the railroad by name. Shows railroad trackage branches as straight lines radiating from the central office of the "Gen'l Sup't". The branches extend from New York (State) westward thru northern New Jersey and northern Pennsylvania to Lake Erie. "Published by permission." LC copy imperfect: Use-worn, brittle, fold-lined, torn, missing sections along the margins. LC copy annotated in ink handwriting in lower margin: 18[4?]. Deposited in Clerk's Office So. Dist. N.Y. Map of the Virginia Central R.R. and its proposed connections

Outline map of the eastern portion of the United States showing the proposed and completed railroad network, and indicating, in red and blue, the main connections to the Virginia Central R. R. The line became a part of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad in 1868. See entry 365.
