4 Hardin TribuneHerald Hardin Montana Thursday October 30 1958 Industries Corp Buys Newspaper The sale of the Flathead Courier Inc to Treasure State Industries Inc of Butte was announced today by Mildred H Murphy corporation president and editor of tne week ly newspaper for the past 21 years We are particularly happy to sell the newspaper and the busi ness to Treasure state Industries Mrs Murphy said since this a stateowned corporation committed to the Industrial and business growth of the state which will di rectly benefit this community in which our paper has played such a part throughout the years In Butte J J McCaffery presi dent of the 15million dollar cor poration that was founded last Feb ruary said Treasure State Indus tries was created to assemble risk and venture capital to expand worthwhile state industries basic to the states economy It Is the feeling of our board of directors that the expansion of the weekly newspapers in Montana is vital and we are especially aware of the growth possibilities in the Polson and Flathead areas We feel that the industrial and recreational facilities will expand rapidly in the immediate years ahead and it is for that reason

w f VOL 54 NO 42 Denny elected president of state School Boards Sam Denny chairman of the Board of Trustees of School Dis trict 17H since 1953 was elected president of the Montana School Board association at the annual convention of that organization in Havre last Friday and Saturday Denny was vice president of the group the past year When he completes his current term next spring he will have a record of 15 years of service on the local School Board He says he has only missed a meeting or two of the state association since that tmei Last May he was Mon tanas delegate to the convention of the National School Board as sociation in Philadelphia The new state president has been active in many other community affairs in Big Horn county He is Jbl Sam Denny a director of the Big Horn Soil Conservation district and the Fed eral Land Banks Wyola district He is also currently a member of the Federal Home administra tion committee and is a past ASC committeeman He is also a Past Master of Sts John Lodge No 92 A F and A M Mr and Mrs Denny returned Sunday from

Bulldogs Upset Custer County Cowboys 126 Hardin Scores Two IDs in Third Period To Overcome Halftime Deficit The Hardin Bulldogs pulled the first big upset of the season in the Little Ten by downing the highly rated Custer County cowboys 120 on the Hardin field Friday night Mlles City left the field at half time with a 60 lead but the fight ing Bulldog eleven came roaring back in the third quarter to push across two touchdowns The fired up Hardin team spotted the big Custer team between 30 and 40 pounds a man but outplayed and outfought the heavy opposition es pecially in the third quarter to ac count for the win Although a few Hardin players were especially outstanding the win would have to be termed a team victory as the entire Bulldog squad played a beautiful brand of ball The Hardin line did a tremendous job in bottling up the Mlles City running game and gave the pass er little time to pick out a receiver The Hardin backfield both offens ively and defensively were equally outstanding as they covered the Custer receivers well and backed up the line on defense and ran with power and speed
