A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE COMMONWEALTH Being handicapped by the seemingly impossible improbability of having oth era bring as into print we deem it not inappropriate and not an unpardonable imposition to exercise oar high pre rogative and relieve oar systems of a little history and dope that may per haps be of little interest to those inter ested in The Commonwealth and its management The Commonwealth is now enjoying its fourteenth year of newspaper life After having been established and con ducted by former Governor Jas K Vardaman for a number of years Hon F R Birdsall of Yazoo City pur chased the office and successfully ed ited same for three years Nearly five years ago the present management came into possession of the paper The Commonwealth now owns its home on Market street and is here to stay The Commonwealth greets its readers today with as comprehensive an edition of a newspaper as ever issued from a Green wood press and in that affirms Its primacy corresponding to the primacy of the city that it represents and re flects Iu rejecting this special edi tion we called it our Holiday Edition which title has been abundantly jus tified
